Celebratory atmosphere ahead of 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to motherland

"Hong Kong today is more stable than ever before. As long as Hong Kong's economy is well developed and Hong Kong's unique advantages are fully utilized in the future, I have full confidence in Hong Kong's development with the strong backing of the central government."  Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam cheng Yuet-Ngor has an interview with reporters at Government House on the eve of the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.  

Lam said that in the past five years, with the joint efforts of the central government, the Hong Kong SAR government and all sectors of society, Hong Kong has made remarkable achievements in safeguarding national security, improving the electoral system, implementing the principle of "patriots governing Hong Kong" and integrating Hong Kong into the overall development of the country. She is full of confidence in Hong Kong's future economic and social development.  

The practice of "one country, two systems" in Hong Kong has been successful  

' One country, two systems' is a very great idea and a pioneering conception."  Lam said that Today's Hong Kong has maintained stability and prosperity, with its position as an international financial, shipping and trade center firmly established and its innovative science, technology, culture and arts thriving.  Over the past 25 years, the practice of "one country, two systems" has been successful in Hong Kong  

"Hong Kong's future development must be integrated into the overall development of the country.  

"Hong Kong has a better foundation in the future. We should be more confident to make innovations to develop the economy and improve people's lives."  Lam expressed confidence that Hong Kong has returned to the right track of "one country, two systems" and the future prospects of Hong Kong are very optimistic.
